Buying a Volkswagen

Volkswagen is currently the world's third largest automaker. The company was established in 1937 as a more affordable alternative to brands like Mercedes-Benzs and BMW. After all, the literal English translation of the company name is the people's car.

At the time of its founding, the auto industry in Germany was dominated by luxury brands that manufactured cars for wealthy people. In one of his rare acts of altruism, Adolf Hitler insisted that a new affordable car be produced in short order.

After all bids were submitted, the dictator chose a brand-new state-owned factory to complete the project. The new car was to be economical and fuel efficient. The first prototype was introduced in 1936. What about used and second hand volkswagen ? (more...)

Are Low Cost Car Sales Risky?

Unless you are going to buy a brand new car , it is always an unknown quantity when searching for a second hand vehicle. However some car dealers in the UK specialise in low cost car sales and offer guarantees and warranties that give the buyer some protection. There are low cost car sales centres in many of the major cities which seem to have a wide range of cars at tempting prices.

Often a smaller garage will sell their part exchange cars at a reasonable price. Mainly dealing in new cars, their low cost cars are simply the cars that have been taken in part exchange for new cars. Some garages offer MOTs and a full service to their low cost car sales clients, which can be very beneficial to the buyer especially if expensive work like a cam belt change is completed before the car is driven away.

One way of buying an inexpensive car is by buying an ex rental car. These cars have generally had a hard life but have benefited from regular servicing and maintenance and are rarely older than a year. Some car dealers specialise in selling ex rental vehicles although there have been cases of people buying a newish car from a dealer in the mistaken idea that it has had one careful owner, only to find it has been a company fleet car! Freedom of the Road

Haven't you ever wanted just to sell or rent your home out for a few months, buy a second hand Porsche and take off to unknown lands, with no itinerary or plan other than to discover new countries and see some of the world? Take each new day as it comes and decide on the spot which towns or even countries to visit that day.

Just the thought of heading off to destinations unknown with just your car, a credit card and the minimum of luggage excites many people. Meeting new people, eating new food and trying to communicate with different cultures and languages. Seeing sights that you could only have dreamed of.

As crossing borders is becoming easier all the time, the practicalities of such a journey are not impossible. Just a vague idea of the route to be taken and some research into the local traffic regulations. Of course a GPS will always be a practical addition too! (more...)

Look at the Total Cost

When many people think about low cost motoring and how they can use their car to get the cheapest way from one place to another, many people automatically think that going out and buying the cheapest car possible will solve all their problems. But that is not how it works.

The price of the actual vehicle is just a small part of the total price of using your car and there are many others factors you will need to take into account.

Insurance is one. There is absolutely no point in buying the cheapest car on the forecourt if the insurance is sky-high on that particular model. (more...)

The Contemporary Definition of Cheap Motoring

The definition of cheap motoring has changed significantly over the years. Twenty or thirty years ago the term signified someone buying as cheap a car as possible and usually running it until it fell apart.

Nowadays the term signifies something subtly different as it brings in other elements. We are much more aware of the environment now, so our efforts to cut costs are combined with our efforts to save fuel and the planet!

We are now much more likely to balance the purchase price of the car against other factors such as the fuel consumption. With the rising price of fuel this is both an economical and an ecological factor. And with rising and often astronomical insurance costs, this also comes into the equation of cheap motoring, as the cheapest car might be the most expensive to insure. (more...)

Can You Buy a Used Porsche For Less?

Porsche is one of the world's most respected brands. Founded in 1931, they were initially an automotive consulting company that did not develop cars under its own name. Then in 1939 the company founder, Professor Ferdinand Porsche accepted an assignment to build an economical vehicle for the German people. The result was the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most influential and successful vehicle designs in history.

The success of the Beetle convinced Ferdinand Porsche to start manufacturing vehicles under his name. The Porsche 64 was released later that year to rave reviews and solid sales numbers. Since the founder had a love of luxury and speed, his new vehicles were primarily luxury sports cars. A few of these models, like the Porsche 550 Spyder, did quite well in international racing competitions.

The company's most popular and influential model was introduced in 1964. The Porsche 911 was a six cylinder rear-engined car with an inimitable body design. After the Corvette, it is arguably the world's most recognisable sports car. Should you buy a used Porsche? (more...)

Looking for Cheap Car Sales

As a society we are all looking for the best deals possible. The recent economic recession has taught us all the value of a pound and that we cannot be needlessly wasting our money. This is why cheap car sales have become more popular in recent years as opposed to expensive newer models.

When you search for cheap used cars there are a few things that you need to take into consideration. Used cars are traditionally in much worse shape than their newer counterparts but that does not mean that some are not of quality.

You need to be able to tell the difference between a bad used car and one of good quality. You need to know what faults to look for and what qualities to aim for. Knowing the prices of each model will also help you in your search. (more...)
